NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities are investigating a body that was found in the Cumberland River in northwest Nashville.

Police told WKRN-TV (https://bit.ly/1Dh9asF) that a boater spotted the body around 1:45 p.m. on Sunday.

Officials, including the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, say because of the condition of the body they’re unable to tell gender, race or cause of death.

A medical examiner is expected to further examine the body.
