RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - A coalition led by North Carolina’s NAACP is planning voting rights rallies in eastern North Carolina.

The Rev. William Barber II says that he’s planning “March to the Polls” events in Nags head on Sunday and Elizabeth City on Monday.

Sunday’s event starts at 6 p.m. at Jennettes’ Pier in Nags Head. Monday’s event will be at the Pasquotank County Courthouse at 5:15 p.m.

The rallies are the latest offshoot of Moral Monday events that started in Raleigh last year. The rallies have focused on a variety of issues including opposition to recent laws approved by the Republican-controlled General Assembly.
