WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - Wichita police say officers have shot and killed a man who fired at officers and struck three vehicles.

Police said in a news release that officers responded early Sunday after receiving multiple reports of someone shooting a gun. The release said officers were shot at in their vehicles and that one officer was pinned down by the gun fire.

Police said three officers opened fire, and the suspect was fatally wounded in the front yard of a home. No officers were injured. As is standard procedure, the officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave while an investigation is conducted. Police say the shooting was captured on video.

The age and name of the man killed wasn’t immediately released.
