WASHINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Vermont state police say a 17-year-old boy has died of injuries sustained when his all-terrain vehicle struck a tree in Washington.

Police say the teen is a Washington resident but did not release his name.

The Burlington Free Press (https://bfpne.ws/1DfB74j ) identifies him as Joey Laquerre - a locally well-known stock car racer.

He was riding was traveling on West Corinth Road new the intersection of Dow Road Saturday at about 1 p.m. when his ATV struck a tree and he was ejected, police said.

He was taken to Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin, where he later died.
