PARAMOUNT, Calif. (AP) - A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy has shot to death a man in the Los Angeles suburb of Paramount.

Authorities say a deputy assigned to Paramount High School received information Monday afternoon that two people were preparing to fight and one had a handgun.

The deputy radioed descriptions of the two people to other deputies who were searching the area near the school.

Sheriff’s officials say a deputy saw two people matching the descriptions and tried to approach one. That’s when the shooting occurred.

The man, who was in his 20s, died at the scene. His name and details about the shooting haven’t been released.

No deputy was hurt.

Paramount is about 15 miles south of Los Angeles.
