CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) - The Big Ten has named Illinois punter Justin DuVernois (doo-vern-WAH’) its special teams player of the week after the senior averaged almost 50 yards a punt against Minnesota.

DuVernois’ average on Illinois’ nine punts Saturday against the Gophers was 48.7 yards. Two of his punts were for 61 yards and four were downed inside the Minnesota 20-yard line.

Illinois (4-4, 1-3 Big Ten) beat the Gophers 28-24.
