PIERRE PART, La. (AP) - State police say brothers in a speeding Corvette died when the driver lost control, causing the car to go into a spin and strike several trees, ejecting the unrestrained men.

Trooper 1st Class Evan Harrell says 48-year-old Todd Ponville, of Pierre Part, and his 49-year-old brother, Troy, of Napoleonville, died early Sunday morning at the scene of the wreck on La. 70 in Assumption Parish.

Harrell says the car was speeding as it entered a right-hand curve and careened out of control.

The Assumption Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced the men dead at the scene.

Harrell says impairment is suspected. Toxicology tests are pending.
