NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) - With the incumbent state Senator recuperating from a serious fall and the challenger raising little money and barely campaigning, politics is largely silent in the 18th senate district in southeastern Connecticut.

Four-term Democratic Sen. Andrew Maynard suffering a serious fall at his Stonington home in July.

Republican challenger Kevin Trejo has raised no money and has done little campaigning.

An Oct. 30 debate was canceled because a family spokesman says Maynard was unable to participate.

On Oct. 14, his family said they believe Maynard will remain in the race and be ready to serve when the 2015 legislative session begins Jan. 7.

The Day of New London reports (https://1.usa.gov/1yF7jNM ) that Trejo said he has traveled around the district and talked to people on the phone but has done no other campaigning.
