LOCKPORT, La. (AP) - Lafourche Parish sheriff’s deputies say a caregiver has been arrested after a Lockport woman reported that cash was stolen from her home.

The Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1wBfsmI ) 27-year-old Reba Yates, of Gheens, was charged with exploitation of the infirmed.

Deputies say Yates took money from the victim’s purse while assisting her. They say Yates was hired last month as a contracted caretaker for the woman, who was injured several years ago.

Yates was released from the Lafourche Parish jail Thursday night after posting a $500 bond.

It was unclear whether she has an attorney.
