GLEN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - Construction is resuming on a bicycle trail between Glen Arbor and Empire in the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.

The Michigan Department of Transportation expects to start work on a 3.4-mile section of the 27-mile Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail on Monday. Construction will continue into mid-November before picking up again in April.

The latest segment of the shared-use trail will include 600 feet of boardwalk over wetland areas. The portion of the trail is being funded by National Scenic Byways, the National Park Service, Federal Transit in Parks, Public Lands Highway Discretionary Funds and private donations.

The trail is designed for non-motorized uses such as hiking, biking and cross-country skiing.
