ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - A new energy management center will provide public facilities across New York with real-time data on energy use, with the goal of reducing the state’s utility bills.

Dubbed the NY Energy Manager, the center is located at the Colleges of Nanoscale Science and Engineering at SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Albany.

It’s being run by the New York Power Authority to provide up-to-the-moment energy use information to more than 3,000 state government facilities and other entities such as the City University of New York.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo says it’s expected to accelerate efforts to improve energy management of state facilities, saving taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars over the coming years.
