HARPER WOODS, Mich. (AP) - A fire has gutted a church building that’s used as a thrift shop in suburban Detroit.

Crews responded Monday morning to the thrift shop that’s sponsored by Redeemer United Methodist Church in Harper Woods.

No injuries are reported in the blaze, which was reported about 3 a.m.

The Rev. Thomas Priest Jr. tells The Detroit News that the Redeemer Thrift Shop had just installed glass-block security windows, and was about to install security cameras this week. He says it’s been robbed and vandalized three times over the past two weeks.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Priest says he doesn’t know if the church will rebuild the thrift shop.
