HAMBURG, Germany (AP) - Hamburger SV has officially named Joe Zinnbauer as head coach through the next season.

The Bundesliga club says Zinnbauer was given a contract until 2016.

Zinnbauer took over as head coach of the struggling club in September, when he replaced the fired Mirko Slomka. Zinnbauer had previously coached Hamburg’s reserve side.

Hamburg plays Bundesliga leader Bayern Munich on Wednesday in the second round of the German Cup. Under Zinnbauer, Hamburg held Bayern to a 0-0 draw in the Bundesliga.

Hamburg is third-to-last in the Bundesliga after losing 3-0 at Hertha Berlin on Saturday.
