PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A 26-year-old Johnston man has been sentenced to 18 months in federal prison for possessing more than 2,200 images of child pornography.

The U.S. attorney’s office and Rhode Island State Police superintendent said Monday that Nicholas Pislowski was ordered last week to serve five years of supervised released after his prison term. He pleaded guilty in May to one count of possession of child pornography.

Members of the state police Internet Crimes Against Children task force executed a search warrant for computers at Pislowski’s residence in April 2012. Authorities say they discovered more than 2,200 videos and images depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

The task force is comprised of members of the state police computer crimes unit, detectives from municipal departments across the state and various federal agents.
