MADISON, Wis. (AP) - The University of Wisconsin Colleges and UW-Extension have a new chancellor.

The UW System Board of Regents on Monday approved the appointment of Cathy Sandeen. Sandeen currently is vice president for Education Attainment and Innovation at the American Council on Education, based in Washington, D.C.

Sandeen permanently replaces Ray Cross, who left the job in February to become UW System president. A selection committee had recommended her appointment.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (https://bit.ly/1DUmlSH ) reports Sandeen will start her new job on Dec. 15. She will earn $245,000.

She will be the third chancellor with responsibility for the integrated administration of the two statewide institutions. Aaron Brower has been serving as interim chancellor.
