HURON, S.D. (AP) - Donations continue to put the South Dakota State Fairgrounds one step closer to its goal of building a new 4-H exhibit hall.

The state’s Department of Agriculture has announced a $50,000 donation from the International Harvester Collectors Club-South Dakota Chapter 21.

State officials have raised more than $3.3 million toward the $4 million project.

The collectors group gathered the funds through raffles, meal fundraisers, sponsorships and other means.

The proposed 49,000-square-foot hall will feature multiple classrooms, a large kitchen for 4-H special food competitions, year-round concessions and a performance stage.

Fair officials expect construction to begin in the spring of 2015. The project should be finished by the end of the summer.
