WASHINGTON, Mo. (AP) - Police in eastern Missouri have recovered a vintage car but are still looking for the man who stole it.

The Washington Missourian reports (https://bit.ly/1wD4ueA ) the red, 1956 Chevrolet was taken about 5 a.m. Monday in the Franklin County town.

Washington police then broadcast a description of the vehicle, and it didn’t take long for someone to report a sighting of the distinctive car on Interstate 44 east of Washington.

Officers pursued the car and found it abandoned about 15 miles away in Pacific, but the thief had run away. He’s described as a white male with dark hair and tattoos on both arms.
