PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. (AP) - A 15-year-old girl is being treated for cuts and bruises after being hit by a car in Prescott Valley.

Prescott Valley police say the girl was crossing a street about 7:30 a.m. Monday while headed to school with her 16-year-old brother.

They say a vehicle driven by an unidentified 43-year-old Prescott Valley woman inadvertently struck the two teens in a crosswalk.

The boy escaped injury, but police say the girl was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for further evaluation.

Police say the driver says she was stopped at a stop sign waiting for traffic to clear so she could make a left turn.

She says she didn’t see the pedestrians due to the bright morning sun and busy traffic.

Police cited the woman for failure to yield.
