NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Andrew Jackson’s home, The Hermitage has acquired a collection of family letters.

According to The Hermitage, the letters were presented at the Andrew Jackson Foundation’s board meeting on Friday by a family that traces its lineage back to John Donelson, an older brother of Jackson’s wife, Rachel.

One letter was written by Rachel Jackson. Another 23 letters are from Rachel Jackson’s family. They include letters written by Emily Donelson from her time as a hostess in Andrew Jackson’s White House.

The Hermitage also received a wineglass that is a Jackson family heirloom from an 1825 visit from the French military leader the Marquis de Lafayette.
