MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. (AP) - Part of a busy southeastern Michigan expressway has closed after a semi-trailer hit an Interstate 75 overpass in Oakland County.

State police say the truck was too tall as the driver attempted Monday morning to pass beneath 12 Mile Road in Madison Heights, north of Detroit.

Some lanes on 12 Mile Road and one of the expressway’s southbound lanes were closed. Crews were inspecting damage to the bridge.

A pedestrian walk bridge over the Southfield Freeway in Detroit was destroyed last month when a waste-hauling truck hit it and pulled it down. The truck’s driver was killed.
