MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. (AP) - A union official says CNH Industrial plans to lay off about 150 workers at its Mount Pleasant tractor plant on Dec. 1.

United Auto Workers Local 180 President Jeff Vassh confirmed the layoffs to The Journal Times (https://bit.ly/1rwiVwD ) Friday.

Vassh says the company informed workers about 10 days earlier at a regular quarterly meeting.

Vassh says CNH will shut down second-shift tractor assembly as of the layoff date and slow tractor production from 40 a day before the layoffs to 30.

He says there are currently about 850 production workers, all union employees, at the plant, which makes Case IH Magnum and New Holland 8000 series tractors.

A company representative did not immediately return a phone message Monday evening.

The plant’s last major layoff was 100 employees announced in February 2012.
