WAUKEGAN, Ill. (AP) - Students will continue to be out of class in the Chicago suburb of Waukegan as a teachers’ strike continues.

The Board of Education for Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 says students will be out of classes on Monday. Negotiations with the Lake County Federation of Teachers are set to resume at 10 a.m. on Monday. The board made a financial counter proposal to the union at the end of bargaining on Friday.

About 17,000 students have been out of class since teachers went on strike Oct. 2.

Both sides have reported some progress, but have failed to agree on salary increases.
