BAINBRIDGE, N.Y. (AP) - State police say a 56-year-old man has been charged after he fatally shot a 26-year-old man and wounded the man’s father after a road-rage incident in upstate New York.

Troopers say the shooting occurred around 1:30 p.m. Monday in the parking lot at Peak Fitness in the rural Chenango County town of Bainbridge. They say 26-year-old Derek D. Prindle of Afton died at a hospital after being shot.

Troopers say his father, 60-year-old Derek S. Prindle of Afton, is being treated at a Binghamton-area hospital.

Police say they arrested John Guzy of Bainbridge and charged him with second-degree murder. He’s being held in the county jail. It couldn’t be determined if he has a lawyer.

Troopers say Guzy and the Prindles had pulled into the parking lot, but the details of what happened beforehand are still being investigated.
