PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) - Jackson County Court Judge T. Larry Wilson has set bond at $100,000 for an Ocean Springs teen accused in the samurai sword stabbing death of a neighbor.

The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1xzdO3l ) 18-year-old Johnny Emmitt Romero is accused in the Friday night stabbing death of 29-year-old Shannon Christen Bowen following an argument between the neighbors.

Police say Romero stabbed Bowen once in the chest.

The public defender’s office said Monday it would likely represent Romero in the case.

The second-degree murder charge carries a maximum sentence of up to 40 years in prison.

Romero has remained in the Jackson County jail since his arrest.
