ASHLAND, Va. (AP) - Randolph-Macon College is set to host a congressional debate between two faculty members.

Republican Dave Brat and Democrat Jack Trammell are scheduled to debate at the college on Tuesday night. They’re vying to replace former U.S. House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, who was defeated by Brat in a summer primary.

Brat is favored to win in the heavily Republican 7th Congressional District, which includes Richmond-area suburbs and stretches to Culpepper. The debate format Tuesday will not allow the candidates to question each other directly.

Both candidates teach at the college. Trammell teaches sociology and Brat is an economics professor. Each have taken leave this semester to campaign.

Randolph-Macon has about 1,300 students and is located in Ashland.
