HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) - Authorities have identified a man who was apparently beaten to death last week and then found in a makeshift homeless encampment in Henderson.

Clark County coroner’s officials say 44-year-old Steven Edward Martin was found Thursday in a desert area near Lake Mead Parkway and Warm Springs Road. Authorities say Martin died of blunt force trauma and have ruled the case a homicide.

Police arrested 35-year-old Amos Martinez on Saturday on suspicion of murder and robbery. He was being held on $140,000 bail on Tuesday.

They say it appears Martinez got into an argument with Martin and beat him to death.

Henderson city spokesman Keith Paul says Martinez was living in another encampment nearby.
