SAND SPRINGS, Okla. (AP) - State highway officials shut down a lane on the U.S. 412 bridge in Tulsa County after a large hole was discovered in the roadway.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation says the 4-foot-by 4-foot hole was discovered Tuesday on the highway in Tulsa County. The transportation department closed the outside lane of westbound U.S. 412 so crews could make repairs.

The department says crews hope to have the hole repaired by Tuesday afternoon.

The bridge was built in 1963 and is scheduled for replacement in 2017.
