KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) - A Kalispell man has been sentenced to five years in the Montana State Prison for stabbing his former girlfriend’s new boyfriend in the neck in July 2013.

The Daily Inter Lake reports (https://bit.ly/1nMNvqp ) 20-year-old Scott Peter Bolt was sentenced on Oct. 2 to 15 years in prison with 10 suspended. Bolt had earlier pleaded guilty to one count of assault with a weapon.

Court records say Bolt told investigators he had gone to the apartment he shared with his ex-girlfriend, pushed his way inside and cut Dylan Day several times in the head and neck area and told him to leave.

Day apparently didn’t know he’d been injured until he stopped at a nearby gas station.

Bolt was ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation.
