OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma City University Film Institute’s series will continue next month with a movie about 1980s-era East Germany.

Christian Petzold’s “Barbara” will be shown on Nov. 9 at the Meinders School of Business on the OCU campus.

In “Barbara,” a young doctor in 1980s East Germany makes the mistake of applying for an exit visa. As a result, she is banished to a small hospital in the hinterlands. Barbara must weigh her absolute dedication to her patients against a potential escape to the West.

The theme of this year’s season is based on a book by the Dali Lama titled “Beyond Religion: Ethics for a Whole World.” Film series director Harbour Winn says the theme is intended to help participants consider the benefits of religion in offering moral guidance.
