CLARION, Pa. (AP) - A western Pennsylvania man remains jailed on third-degree murder and lesser charges in what state police call a drunken crash that killed his friend.

Clarion-based troopers say 22-year-old Kyle Bailey, of Parker, was more than twice as drunk as the law permits when he crashed his utility-terrain vehicle Sept. 7, killing 28-year-old Jeremy Slaugenhoup.

The (Oil City) Derrick (https://bit.ly/1wDxXaa ) reports Bailey argued with friends who didn’t want him to drive home early that day because he’d been drinking at a bar. When Bailey ignored them, some friends - including Slaugenhoup - followed him home. At some point, they stopped Bailey because he was driving erratically and Slaugenhoup tried to drive Bailey home before, instead, agreeing to ride along in the UTV just before Bailey crashed.

Bailey preliminary hearing Tuesday was postponed until Jan. 6.
