PLANO, Texas (AP) - Firefighters say a single-engine plane that crashed into a Dallas-area golf course pond will remain in the water for at least one night.

No injuries were reported after the plane crashed into the Prestonwood Country Club in Plano on Monday evening. A Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson tells KXAS-TV the pilot reported engine trouble while traveling to Addison Airport and attempted to land on the fairway. Authorities say the pilot was able to exit the plane and swim to safety before the aircraft sunk.

Plano Fire-Rescue crews put out booms to soak up any petroleum that might leak from the plane. Firefighters say they will attempt to remove the plane during the daytime.

The pilot’s identity hasn’t been released. Federal authorities are investigating.
