WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) - A Saudi Arabian man studying at the University of Northern Iowa has been sentenced to up to 25 years in prison for breaking into a woman’s home and attacking her.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1Dp5XHF ) 25-year-old Hamad Abdul Aziz Alsalman entered an Alford plea on Monday, meaning he did not admit guilt but acknowledged prosecutors could likely prove the charges against him. He pleaded to first-degree burglary and assault with intent to commit sexual abuse.

Authorities say Alsalman forced his way into the Cedar Falls home after crashing his car. They say he choked the woman and bit her on the neck before she escaped outside.

Alsalman faces deportation after he is released from prison.
