WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (AP) - Wood County authorities have charged a 55-year-old man who they say killed his brother and buried the body in his backyard.

Daily Tribune Media reports (https://wrtnews.co/1yGkY7a ) Ronald Horan of Wisconsin Rapids was ordered held on $20,000 bond Monday on a charge of second-degree reckless homicide. He faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.

Horan’s attorney, Gary Kryshak, says he believes it was a tragic accident and not a crime.

Prosecutors say Horan called 911 on Aug. 7 and said he had killed his brother, 52-year-old Tracy Horan. An officer found the man buried in a shallow grave behind Ronald Horan’s residence.

Horan tells authorities he pushed his brother down the stairs of his apartment and saw a pool of blood by his brother’s head. He says he didn’t know what to do, so he dug a grave for the body.
