GOSHEN, Ind. (AP) - Two northern Indiana manufacturers plan expansion projects that they project will mean nearly 220 additional jobs in the coming years.

The Elkhart County Council voted this week to approve tax abatement requests from boat maker Smoker Craft for its New Paris factory and from Chassix for its casting and machining plant in Bristol.

The Goshen News and The Elkhart Truth report Chassix told county officials it is spending $23 million on new equipment and plans to add almost 120 positions by the end of next year.

Smoker Craft plans spending about $4 million on a factory expansion and new equipment. It expects to add 100 jobs by 2018 as it increases pontoon boat production by 50 percent.
