HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - A second University of Southern Mississippi student has been arrested for allegedly posting a social media threat.

University police arrested 20-year-old Velton Taylor Williams on Wednesday in connection with an alleged threat to the Hattiesburg campus posted Sept. 25 on the social media application Yik Yak.

University Police Chief Bob Hopkins says Williams has been charged with posting a computer threat to cause injury, a felony offense. If convicted, he could face a maximum penalty of five years in prison.

Williams is being held in the Forrest County jail. A bond hearing is pending.

On Sept. 22, 20-year-old Brandon Hardin of Carriere was charged with posting a computer threat to cause injury. Hardin was released from jail on a $40,000 bond.
