TROY, Mich. (AP) - A coalition of ethnically and religiously diverse groups is holding a candidate forum in suburban Detroit.

The New Americans Candidate Forum scheduled for Friday evening at the Troy Community Center aims to mobilize US Asian, Arab and Muslim voters for the November elections. The event will feature numerous candidates, including those for the U.S. and Michigan House, state Senate and other local offices.

Organizers say they seek to learn where candidates stand on issues affecting “New American” and immigrant communities in Michigan.

The forum is hosted by Asian & Pacific Islander American Vote-Michigan, ACCESS, the Michigan Muslim Community Council and others.

Additional forums are planned Oct. 11 in Canton and Oct. 17 in Dearborn.
