GREENVILLE, Miss. (AP) - Washington County officials are reviewing bids from two companies for work on the Delta Sportsplex.

The Delta Democrat-Times reports (https://bit.ly/1mZZOQ1 ) Florence-based Hemphill Construction Company Inc. submitted a bid for $2.66 million. Inverness-based David Smith Construction Inc.’s bid came in at $2.47 million.

The sportsplex will be built on county-owned land near the local convention center. It will have several soccer and softball fields.

The board of supervisors last week accepted a bid from the Delta Sportsplex Foundation to lease the county-owned land. The 25-year lease between the county and the foundation will retire a $3 million bond issued to build the sports complex.

Hooker Engineering is overseeing bids, engineering, design and other aspects of the project management.
