HAZLEHURST, Miss. (AP) - Timothy L. Burns has been given two life sentences after pleading guilty Friday to capital murder in the deaths of a woman and her son.

WLBT-TV in Jackson reports (https://bit.ly/1ra4IFc ) prosecutors dropped two other counts.

Burns was sentenced in Copiah County Circuit Court.

Burns was charged in the deaths of 7-year-old Jaidon Hill and his mother Atira Hughes-Smith. He was not charged in the death of Laterry Smith, who was killed in the same incident.

The three family members’ bodies were found Nov. 2, 2013, after their burned vehicle was found in a remote area of Copiah County.
