NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - The Navy says the command master chief of the guided missile destroyer USS Stout has been relieved of his duties.

Cmdr. Andrew Fitzpatrick said Friday that Command Master Chief Albert Marcucci was relieved after non-judicial punishment proceedings. Marcucci was replaced by Command Master Chief Ron Glass.

Lt. Cmdr. Katie Hodgins, a Navy spokeswoman, said Marcucci engaged in “an unduly familiar relationship” and made false official statements. She said Marcucci was given a punitive letter of reprimand.

Marcucci began serving as the Norfolk-based Stout’s command master chief in May 2013. He has been temporarily assigned to the staff of the commander of Naval Surface Force Atlantic in Norfolk.
