DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Brig. Gen. Derek Hill, deputy adjutant general of the Iowa Air National Guard, has announced his plans to retire.

Officials said in a news release Friday that Hill will step down on Nov. 2. Col. William D. “Drew” DeHaes will replace him.

Hill became deputy adjutant general in December 2011. He has nearly 30 years of service through various posts around the country. He transferred to the Iowa Air National Guard in 2003.

DeHaes, who will replace him, currently serves as special projects officer for the Iowa Air National Guard.
