PLAIN CITY, Utah (AP) - Authorities say a man suffered non-life-threatening injuries after he was shot in a standoff with officers in Plain City.

Weber County sheriff’s officials say the encounter began around 7 p.m. Thursday, when a neighbor reported hearing gunshots from a nearby garage.

Deputies say they found the 66-year-old armed man, who was intoxicated and threatening to harm himself.

Authorities say they tried to negotiate with the man and get him to drop the weapon for two hours, but he eventually brandished the gun at police.

He was shot and then taken to a hospital. No officers were injured.

Deputies say the incident is under investigation, and the man will likely face charges.
