NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts prosecutor says a Boston man wanted in connection with a gunpoint kidnapping last week is in custody in Baltimore.

Bristol District Attorney Sam Sutter said Friday that 28-year-old Adynew Alves turned himself in to Baltimore police Thursday night. A second suspect, 28-year-old Stephanie Walker of Lawrence, was arrested there last Saturday.

The two are accused of kidnapping a 49-year-old woman in or near Boston Sept. 23, forcing her at gunpoint into the truck of a car. She escaped on Route 24 in Taunton, where motorists helped her and called police.

Sutter said Alves is expected to appear in court Monday in Baltimore on a fugitive charge. He is charged in Massachusetts with kidnapping, armed assault and assault and battery. Walker is expected to return to Massachusetts next week to face kidnapping and assault and battery charges.
