KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A medical examiner says the death of an East Tennessee toddler was a homicide.

According to the Knoxville News Sentinel (https://bit.ly/1xKpSCz) the autopsy report found that 17-month-old Levi Beaty of Wartburg died in June from “multiple blunt force injuries due to child abuse.”

The child’s mother, 29-year-old Amanda Beaty, and he boyfriend, 42-year-old Rodger Dale Prince, were each indicted on a murder charge last month by a Morgan County grand jury. They have pleaded not guilty.

The autopsy report says the child suffered contusions on his face, scalp and both lungs; fractures to his spine; and had epidural and spinal cord hemorrhaging. It also noted that the boy had deformities in some bones “indicating old healed fractures.”
