ST. CHARLES, Mo. (AP) - A Missouri man has been found guilty of murdering an elderly widow nearly 30 years ago.

A St. Charles County jury convicted 49-year-old Cecil McBenge on Thursday of first-degree murder of 84-year-old Eleonora Knoernschild in 1984. Her daughter found her beaten and strangled and her home ransacked.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports (https://bit.ly/1E7NMJL ) Authorities say DNA found at the crime scene was linked to McBenge and his brother in 2011.

He is scheduled to be sentenced in November and faces life in prison without parole. His attorneys declined to comment to the newspaper.

McBenge’s brother, 52-year-old Brian McBenge, was also found guilty of the murder. He is scheduled to be sentenced this month.
