OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The archbishop of Oklahoma City has performed an exorcism at a public venue that hosted a satanic “black Mass” last month.

Archbishop Paul S. Coakley told The Oklahoman newspaper (https://bit.ly/1BDm2Zv ) this week that he and another priest performed “prayers of exorcism” at the Civic Center Music Hall the morning after the Sept. 21 event.

Coakley says the exorcism was performed after he learned some center patrons were troubled about possible after-effects of the mass. An exorcism is typically a ritual performed to cast out a demon from an individual.

Around 40 people attended the mass led by a group of Satanists called the Dakhma of Angra Mainyu Syndicate.

The event had drawn the ire of Roman Catholics and other religious groups.
