PICKENS, S.C. (AP) - An assistant football coach at Pickens High School has been charged with sexual battery of a student and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Multiple media outlets reported that 29-year-old Joshuah Bennett Dorr was charged Wednesday with having sex with a 17-year-old female.

Dorr resigned Monday after the investigation began.

A sheriff’s report said a 17-year-old girl said Dorr and several 17- and 18-year-old students were at a home drinking. The report said the girl had sex with the other teens and Dorr.

School district spokesman John Eby said Dorr was not a teacher, but was paid as an assistant coach.

The girl was old enough to consent to sex, but state law forbids sex between school personnel and students.

It was not clear if Dorr has an attorney.
