GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - Grand Rapids police say a U.S. bankruptcy court security officer has shot himself in the hand.

The department said in a news release that the shooting took place early Friday afternoon inside the Grand Rapids building that houses both the police and the bankruptcy court.

Police say the security officer’s injury is not life-threatening.

Officers from the city assisted the U.S. Marshals Service, which will be conducting a formal investigation.

The victim’s name has not been released.
