COTTAGE GROVE, Minn. (AP) - Cottage Grove police have arrested a woman who they say fought with officers and grabbed an arresting officer’s handgun after being questioned about the disappearance of her 7-year-old daughter.

Police say the woman was arrested outside Cottage Grove Middle School on Thursday after officers were notified she was trying to take her other child out of school. Authorities say a Hennepin County court had ordered the woman’s daughter be turned over to her biological father but the girl never arrived at his home.

Police say they told her she was under arrest for deprivation of parental rights. They say she grabbed an officer’s gun and he shot her with a Taser before securing his gun.

The woman faces charges including disarming a police officer and obstructing with force.
