ATLANTA (AP) - State officials say more than 709,900 Georgians have cast early ballots ahead of the Nov. 4 general election.

Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp said in a release that 709,992 people had either voted early or mailed in ballots as of Thursday morning.

Kemp says 631,025 of the total ballots were cast in-person.

Kemp says early voter turnout has been highest in the metro Atlanta area. Fulton County voters have already cast 70,511 votes. DeKalb, Cobb, Gwinnett and Henry counties rounded out the top five areas with the highest early voter turnout.

Early voting ends on Friday.
