PHOENIX (AP) - Gasoline prices around Arizona have fallen to under $3 per gallon like they have in 20 other states.

Officials with Triple-A Arizona said Thursday that the average statewide price for unleaded regular gasoline is $2.96 a gallon. That’s 8 cents lower than last week.

This week’s national average is $3.01 per gallon, down by almost 7 cents from last week.

Triple-A analysts say prices should remain low, barring unforeseen circumstances.

The East Valley area (Mesa, Tempe, Gilbert, Chandler, Ahwatukee, Apache Junction and Queen Creek) has Arizona’s lowest average gasoline price at $2.85 a gallon and Flagstaff has the highest at $3.28.

South Carolina has the lowest average gas prices among states in the continental U.S. at $2.75 a gallon with New York having the highest at $3.38 a gallon.
